Visiting the IOP last week, I found one of the most fascinating sites was low tide. This lone starfish was stranded waiting for the tide to come back and steal it away to the ocean again.

Very cool photo! Great texture and subtle colors.
Thank you!
Oh dear, I wonder whether it had to wait, or was able to ‘walk’ to a pool, or down to the water? Great shot, full of stories and potential 🙂
The first time I saw it, it was flat, so it had already “walked” some. The tide wasn’t out for long… This was the tide at it’s lowest. I had to wade out to the sandbar where the starfish was. I have a lot more photos of conch shells, too… with house guests.
How wonderful – I do love tidal pools and rocky outcrops 🙂
Beautiful photo of the starfish!
Thank you. I had never actually seen how a starfish moves on dry land until this chance meeting. It was wonderful.
Excellent find!
Low tide was a virtual treasure trove that day.

Thank you and thank you for taking time to leave a comment.
This is stunning. I love the color. I love how it looks like it’s moving, but still. I LOVE the texture. Amazing photo!
Thank you… it was in the process of moving. Every time I would go back it was different. Eventually it met up with the tide again.
This is just exquisite!
Thanks, I am a fan of yours, so I appreciate the compliment.
Thanks 😉
Beautiful composition and light!
That was all Mother Nature… I just pushed the button and aimed. Thank you.
what a lovely starfish! how lucky that you happened along and captured its essence before it returned to the sea! z
This was a wonderful week with family and ocean and relaxation. The low tide treasure trove was just one of the many blessings.
it reminded me a bit of one of my watercolors of a baby olive ridley sea turtle…

Wow! They do have a similar feel. Love the tree frog!
Love the photo. I can almost feel that guy.
Thank you. You know that is funny that you say you can almost feel the starfish… I didn’t touch him. I am usually very curious, but I knew it was alive and didn’t want to put it in any more shock than it already was. I looked very closely and that’s about it. I imagine it felt very gritty.
Yes. I imagine sandpaper feel, like a cats tongue.
